Saturday 3 Feb 2024, 23:00 CET – The Art of the Improvisers.
Available Jelly,The Houdini’s, and the duo Ab Baars/Ig Henneman.
The group Available Jelly no longer exists, but the musicians got along well for about 35 years. Permanent development was the stabilising factor. No ‘heavy’ improv with serious faces – rather a certain lightness. Music, but also other aspects of cultures from all over the world served as their source of inspiration.
The CD Bilbao Song was released in 2004 and during the programme you can hear 4 tracks.
- Lovelock – named after the man who proposed the Gaia hypothesis.
- Bulan/Khek Borates – 2 old Siamese songs, treated as found objects.
- Facade – facades are everywhere, but particularly in Amsterdam.
- Bilbao Song – tends towards stasis.
These descriptions are taken from the explanatory texts provided by Available Jelly.
Michael Moore – alto saxophone, clarinet, bass clarinet
Tobias Delius – tenor saxophone, clarinet
Eric Boeren – cornet
Wolter Wierbos – trombone
Ernst Glerum – bass
Michael Vatcher – percussion
The music by Available Jelly is followed by three tracks by the Houdini’s.
The programme ends with four tracks by the duo Ab Baars/Ig Henneman.
The playlist is available in the Guide.
