On NPO3/NPOstart, singer and actress Meral Polat hosts a beautiful series called Turkedelica on Anadolu pop, also known as (psychedelic) Anatiolian rock.
Partially thanks to Dutch-Turkish band Altın Gün, Anatololian rock is experiencing a true revival.
This music genre, which combines Turkish folk music and (psychedelic) rock from the 1960s and 70s, was suppressed in Turkey during the 1980s and subsequently faded into obscurity. For many musicians, this music, from a period in which Turkey was very liberal, is now a major source of inspiration, as this series highlights.
