The baroque spirit in all his musical shapes. Today, we will feature just one piece: the St John’s Oratorio by Daniel Bollius from 1623.

Bollius was associated with the episcopal court in Mainz from around 1619. He likely composed his oratorio about John the Baptist in 1623 to celebrate the name day of Bishop Johannes on 24 June. This work is considered the first oratorio by a Northern European composer.
