INDIA : Bollywood & Fusion | Namaste Bombay, A Musical Tribute to Hindi Cinema, Kuljit Bhamra |  Sheila Chandra | Bombay Dub Orchestra.

1- Namaste Bombay – A Musical Tribute to Hindi Cinema van Kuljit Bhamra.
Bhamra is a producer, composer and tabla player who fuses Indian instrumentation and beats with British jazz, pop and classical music. He has also made film scores and it is no wonder that he is fond of the film scores of Bollywood films, of Hindi cinema, because they have always combined the traditions of Indian music with Western pop and jazz, with astonishing results. >> CD. 2- Sheila Chandra.
The Anglo-Indian singer Sheila Chandra is one of the most original and successful singers in the twilight zone between Western and non-Western music. In the 1990s she developed a very personal style: Sheila Chandra explored the boundaries of vocal expression by creating long wordless ornaments or percussion sounds with her voice, occasionally accompanied by a bourdon note held in one tone. With this effect – also applied in raga music – she created magical sounds with a hypnotic effect. This Sentence Is True suggests that Sheila Chandra has turned a new leaf. >> CD. This sentence is true – Sheila Chandra. LABEL: Virgin (2001), code: 8509542. Video

3- Bombay Dub Orchestra.
The title Tales From the Grand Bazaar tells you much of what you need to know about Bombay Dub Orchestra, as the bazaar is where cultures meet and intertwine, with Istanbul’s bazaar being the largest. The band expands on that, pulling sounds and textures from places as diverse as India, Turkey, Macedonia and Brazil, while blending them into a soft electronic atmosphere that can be quite enchanting. “Istanbul is literally a melting pot,” says Mackay. “The Grand Bazaar was completed in 1461 and is a concrete-covered market with 5,000 shops and 60 streets. We imagined all the stories that have happened there over the centuries. The album is certainly inspired by stories that these traders and the many men or women in cafes and stalls may have told. >> CD. Tales from the Grand Bazaar – Bombay Dub Orchestra.
