In this episode of FolkIt, songs from the Pub Ibiltaria series of the Basque group Oskorri.
In the FolkIt episodes of last 28 en 30 March, this group that was formed in the early 1970s has already been featured.
Oskorri first performed in 1971, so in 1996 the group celebrated its 25th anniversary. The celebrations included a concert at the big San Tomas market in Bilbao on 21 December. During the concert, they sung Basque songs, and the audience sang along. The concert was recorded and released on the CD The Pub Ibiltaria. With that, a new tradition was born that would last for 13 CDs. Part 13, which is also the last part of the series, was released in 2009. Each of the 13 live recorded CDs has a sing-along CD featuring the same songs, but without vocals. In this FolkIt, we will play a selection of songs from this series.
