Dutch music in the 20th and 21st Century, episode 2.
There is French impressionism, German Romanticism, and the the distinctive Italian bel canto. Many countries have their own ways of expressing themselves, which also leads to a stylistic identity. A connoisseur can even name the difference between North German Baroque and French Baroque. Hoe zit dat met Nederland? Is there such a thing as a ‘Dutch’ style, and if yes, what does that entail? In Dutch music in the 20th and 21st Century, we will search for the Dutch identity. [picture: Martijn Padding].
