The concert hall TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht and World of Jazz are joining forces to put the Dutch jazz scene in the spotlight. Guy van Hulst (Head of Jazz at TivoliVredenburg) and Arjan Went (programme leader at World of Jazz) take the audience on an adventurous path through all the wonderful things happening in the Netherlands in the field of jazz and related genres.
De Concertzender (big brother of World of Jazz) and TivoliVredenburg have been working together for decades. The new channel ‘World of Jazz’ has been available since January and presents ‘jazz & more’ 24 hours a day. The possibilities of this new channel are a reason for the two parties to intensify their cooperation. At the initiative of TivoliVredenburg, the Jazzkotabel and Dutch Jazz programmes have been revived.
In Jazzkotabel, co-hosts Hans Mantel and Rembrandt Frerichs, together with prominent guests from the jazz world, take the listener every week on a fascinating journey through today’s jazz. New releases are listened to ‘blindly’, resulting in surprising opinions and in-depth conversations. Jazzkotabel is suitable for both seasoned jazz connoisseurs and listeners who are just discovering the genre.
From October 15, Rolf Delfos and Bart Wirtz will present Dutch Jazz in all its forms in the programme of the same name. This programme has moved from radio station Sublime to World of Jazz after fifteen years. New releases and new talents, but also forgotten recordings from the past: it’s all covered.
Both programmes can be heard first on World of Jazz, but are afterwards also available on demand as podcast. The first episdoe of Jazzkotabel is already available as a podcast and be listened to here.
TivoliVredenburg
In addition, TivoliVredenburg and World of Jazz jointly record a wide range of concerts, which find their way to the listener in the World of Jazz Live program. Lovers of jazz, world music and more will all benefit from this collaboration. All the beautiful jazz that can be admired live on stage at TivoliVredenburg can now also be heard on World of Jazz and via the usual podcast apps.
