New spring, new sound

tue 25 mar 2025
Theme: World Music
Friday 28th March 20:00 Ritmundo, this time with: composers from nature.
The Beatles used bird sounds in their songs, such as the blackbird and the skylark. Sampling sounds from nature in music is very current and nature is being taken more and more seriously as a source. The idea behind this is this: “the greatest musician of all time has never been credited for her work”.
Musicians from all over the world use nature as a source of inspiration and even as fellow musicians. And there are also initiatives to recognize nature as an official artist on major streaming platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music.
In Ritmundo you can listen to, among others, Sam Lee, who sings together with nightingales, to an ode to the osprey by harpist Catrin Finch & kora player Seckou Keita and to Lokua Kanza, who brings a buzzing tropical forest to life with enchanting vocals. And of course The Beatles will also be there, with Blackbird.
