Gorillaz – Aflevering 4 (2010 – 2011)
In het vierde deel over de Britse band Gorillaz duiken we in de wereld van Plastic Beach, het derde studioalbum van de band dat in 2010 verscheen. De band trok naar aanleiding van deze gebeurtenis voor het eerst in “real life” de wereld rond. Geanimeerde concerten maakten plaats voor een enorme live band bestaande uit muzikanten die eerder deel uit maakten van o.a. The Clash en The Verve. Bobby Womack toerde eveneens met de band mee en op plaat horen we bijvoorbeeld Lou Reed. Visueel was er ook genoeg spektakel met dank aan de technologische ontwikkelingen door de jaren heen. Zo reed Bruce Willis in een videoclip met Murdoc Niccals op de stoel naast hem.
Het kon allemaal niet op in deze periode voor de band. Tijdens het Amerikaanse deel van de toer nam de band tussen de optredens door een aantal improvisaties op met slechts een tablet als belangrijkste studio apparaat. Deze composities werden in 2011 als album uitgebracht onder de naam The Fall.
Luister mee naar, tot op heden, misschien wel de meest productieve jaren van Gorillaz.
