An Early Evening Stroll

mon 7 nov 2022 11:00 hrs

In ‘An Early Evening Stroll, we never cease to marvel at the maturity of the youthful Felix Mendelssohn.

At a mere seventeen, he wrote a beautiful string quintet that – unjustly – has always stood in the shadow of his octet. Also insufficiently known is that Felix had already written another violin concerto at age thirteen, well before his famous violin concerto in e minor. While composing that concerto and the andante of the quintet, he had his beloved violin teacher Eduard Rietz on his mind.
