Slipped Through the Net

mon 25 nov 2024 04:00 hrs

Special crossover music, chosen by Ton Maas.

Fred Neil, nestor of the New York folk scene.

The singer and guitar player Fred Neil, who passed away in 2001, once played with Buddy Holly, wrote songs for Roy Orbison, gave Bob Dylan his first job as a harmonica player and made Harry Nilsson a world-class star with his song Everybody’s Talking. Producer Nik Venet was the one that made Neil’s talent really come through on vinyl, with his (no title) debut album at Capital Records and shortly after the LP Sessions. This last one might be the most spontaneously recorded album of all time.
