André Caplet
(Le Havre, 23 November, 1878 — Neuilly-sur-Seine, 22 April 1925)
composer, violinist and conductor.
It has been 100 years this year since French composer André Caplet passed away. He succumbed to pneumonia in 1925 due to general debilitation from sustained injuries and a poison gas attack in World War I. He lived to be only 46. Among his 600 opus numbers, there are only about 30 songs, of which you will hear a few in this episode of ‘Thou singest ye carol’.
