An Early Evening Stroll

Seasons as inspiration

A new spring, a familiar sound. Seasons have been and will continue to be a source of inspiration for poets and composers. Sometimes, it’ll be a composition with all seasons, sometimes just one season will be the inspiration. Today’s episode is all about spring. We will listen to six well-known and a few obscure works and see how spring was given a musical life by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791), Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827), Frederic Chopin (1810-1849), Josef Suk (1874-1935), Jean Sibelius (1865-1957) and Darius Milhaud (1892-1974).

Spring is here!
