AMERICAN HIGHWAYS #98 WILLIAM BOLCOM:
I’ve admired Bill Bolcom for years, both for his amazing versatility (racconteur, improvisor, pianist) and his brilliant compositions.
He’s well-known for his cabaret songs, his ragtime works, and many other humorous and entertaining pieces. But today I’d like to consider some of his more weighty works: the Piano Concerto, the first Violin Sonata, and ‘Décalage’ for cello.
