Mihály Mosonyi, countryman and contemporary of Franz Liszt.
Mihály Mosonyi was born Michael Brand in 1815 in Austria-Hungary. He later changed his first name to the more Hungarian-sounding Mihály, and his last name to Mosonyi, in honour of the Moson region where he was born. His early works still have a distinctly German-Austrian flavour, but in his later pieces, the Hungarian aspect becomes increasingly prominent.
