Bach Ad Infinitum

wed 3 jul 2013 13:00 hrs

Episode 88. Each workday host Joop van Zijl and producer Govert Jan Bach will plough playfully yet thoroughly through the oeuvre of the great master Johann Sebastian Bach. A soloist portrait of piano player Glenn Gould.

Millions of people became crazy about Bach because of Glenn Gould (1932-1982).
Gould played Bach compelling with heart and soul from within.
Naturally this wasn’t authentic on the piano but very releasing after the heavily accentuated romantic Bach interpretations we had at the time. He played with a precision and style which is still very much appreciated.
Glenn Gould was mad with Bach and mad about Bach. In this portrait you can hear it clearly.
