Concertzender Live On stage: Malicorne – En public
Due to the Covid-19 measures, the Concertzender Live team cannot present new concert recordings to you. To stay in the programme’s spirit, you will hear live recordings of concerts, but they are recordings published officially on CD or DVD. In this broadcast of En Public, you can listen to the first live album of French folk-rock group Malicorne. The album was recorded on the 2nd and 3rd of December, 1978, in the El Casino Theatre in Montreal, Canada. Malicorne was at its peak with five brilliant studio albums they released before performing this live concert. By the time they recorded their next studio album, their formation had changed considerably, with, among others, the arrival of ex-Gryphon bassoonist Brian Gulland, who appeared in one of the songs on En Public. Quebec fiddler Andre Proulx also played on two instrumental tracks. After releasing two more studio albums, Malicorne split up in 1986. Gabriel Yacoub, the group’s undisputed leader, went solo. Some albums with reworked tracks appeared before Gabriel Yacoub and Marie Sauvet (his former wife) reunited, and Malicorne made a comeback live album. You will hear a couple of these tracks as an addition to En Public.
