#520. Secluded Bronte; Incidental Games, the new album.
1. Secluded Bronte gave us a peek in their new album which will be released
soon (we guess). It’s great stuff but quite unlike the more Bohmannish
material we might expect. This is pop music but played right.
Secluded Bronte release their new album Incidental Games in late 2024.
Incidental Games is a remarkable development in that it’s Secluded
Bronte’s first album to wholly embrace pop music, albeit in their own
idiosyncratic, experimental style.
In a review of their performance at the Acid Horse Festival, BBC
broadcaster Jennifer Lucy Allan, writing for The Quietus, described
Secluded Bronte as “the pop group we always wanted”. Incidental Games
confirms this.
After a sold out guest slot supporting Fat White Family, Secluded
Bronte perform at the Stewart Lee curated Brighton Psych Fest in the
summer of 2024.
Secluded Bronte are Adam Bohman, Jonathan Bohman and Richard Thomas.
Formed in London and launched in New York City, the Anglo-Welsh trio
have been together for 20 years. Since that time in 2002, they have
continued to plough an idiosyncratic furrow into the heart of what one
might call art-music. Rock & Roll, bric-a-brac, bullfrogs, hardcore
abstract noise, musique concrète, rowing boats, references to cinema
and television, comedy, poetry, songs, sketches and theatre co-exist
equally. They are not so much a section in a record shop but the record
shop itself.
2. Rosarats Barrel.
This is a radio piece about a song everybody knows. It’s been heard
before but we thought why not play it again. It’s great stuff.
