Orchestra leader, composer and piano player Duke Ellington (1899-1974) part 36. In December 1950 Ellington promoted the then new 12-inch LP for the jazz department of Columbia with the album ‘Masterpieces by Ellington’ with some of his classics in longer executions. Eighteen months later ‘Ellington Uptown’ appeared in the same set-up.
