Conductor, composer and pianist Duke Ellington (1899-1974) part 119. In today’s programme on DUKE ELLINGTON a selection of works of the album ‘Ella Fitzgerald Sings the Duke Ellington Songbook’ with recordings from 1957. In comparison to other songbooks by Ella – among others Gershwin, Cole Porter and Harold Allen Songbooks) the cooperation with Ellington took place in a workshop-like strongly improvised setting.
