Conductor, composer and pianist Duke Ellington (1899-1974) part 123. In today’s DUKE ELLINGTON a duo recording of Ellington and bass player Ray Brown from December 5 1972, a tribute to Jimmy Blanton; a prominent bass player in the Ellington Orchestra during 1940 – 42, who passed away in 1942 when he was 23 years old. After that four additional pieces from Ellington’s piano recital at the Whitney Museum, New York from April in 1972.
