Conductor, composer and pianist Duke Ellington (1899-1974), part 131. In DUKE ELLINGTON today: recordings from Ellington along with Swedish soprano Alice Babs. We start with recordings from early 1963 for the album ‘Serenade To Sweden’, in a septet with a four-member French horn section from the symphony in Paris, which included Georges Barboteu. Followed by three recordings from January 1968 from the ‘Second Sacred Concert’.
