Inventions For Radio #18. In deze aflevering staat de Portugese geluidsonderzoeker en -ontwerpster Sara Pinheiro centraal.
For this broadcast, I have decided to compile some of my pieces. That compilation has as a guideline the fact that the sounds acquire a different layer if played on radio instead of performed in a hall or as an installation.
In this compilation I think the most important question is how the listener relates to a batch of sounds, when some will be very familiar, while others are unfamiliar. What level of attention can we reach in a radio broadcast? Do we stop what we are doing, or do we use the sounds as a complement, to keep us company? Are these pieces what we usually associate to as "field recordings", or are the sounds studio instruments?
The pieces have the ideas of sound fiction and characterization in common. This ultimately leads to a conceptualization of sound performativity, which comes into question since the performance conditions are not definable.
Sara Pinheiro behaalde haar BA graad in de School voor Theater en Film in Lissabon met als specialisatie geluidsontwerp. Pinheiro behaalde haar MA graad in Sonologie aan het Conservatorium van Den Haag, waar zij op het moment een onderzoekspositie betrekt. Daarnaast werkt zij veelal als geluidsontwerpster voor film.
