Folk magazine about the present and the past, from freak folk to minstrels. We are searching for mythical creatures and allegoric stories in roots music. The ancient lyrics that have been passed down are filled with references to the mystical parts animals play in a society where nature still heavily influenced every day life. But hints about metaphysical occurrences are also dropped. We selected a dozen of old, but still current songs referencing odd birds. There are especially many in British folk music. You will hear for example more of Steeleye Span, Martin Simpson, Barry Dransfield and others. But with artists like Malicorne, Hölderlin Express, Doc & Merle Watson, the broadcast isn’t entirely Anglo-Saxon.
