The voice is often the lead in a song. But you can also use the voice as an instrument. Or with the vocal (chords) use several techniques to make the voice sound different from ‘singing words’. In this FolkIt! we play several examples of this different use of voice. In this we hear known and lesser known applications. From jodel to joik, two forms of mouthmusic, to throat- and overtone singing to jubilant outbursts and imitating natural sounds. FolkIt! presents the ‘voice-over-instrument’.
