Genius Music Friends, Part XIV on Mozart and Haydn
In the series ‘Genius Music Friends’, programme producer/host Thijs Bonger investigates the musical meetings between Haydn and Mozart. Getting closer to the date Haydn would leave for a concert tour through England, the meetings became more intense They spent many musical nights and played the string quintets by Mozart. Today, you will hear three parts from full of harmoncy KV 593 and the dazzling and just as ingeniously composed KV 515.
Both are milestones in the string quintet repertoire. Exceptionally and with spontaneous amazement performed by violinist Arthur Grumiaux, accompanied by an ad hoc ensemble. A beautiful recording by Philips in 1973.
