Today, an episode about DAVID “FATHEAD” NEWMAN.
The beloved tenor, alto and baritone saxophonist and flutist was from Texas, had an earthy but contemporary style and a big bluesy sound. He is well-known because of his work with Ray Charles and meanwhile built a solid jazz career. You will hear solo work with, among others, Ray Charles, Hank Crawford, Marcus Belgrave, Milt Turner, Wynton Kelly, Brother Jack McDuff, Rein de Graaff and John Hicks.
