JazzNotJazz focus on guitarist Wayne Krantz
Jazzdrummer Felix Schlarmann’s 46th program for Dutch online radio Concertzender Nederland focuses on guitarist Wayne Krantz from New York City. After the last program was all about Zach Danziger who played the drums on Krantz’s revolutionary album ‘Two Drinks Minimum’, the idea of focusing on Krantz himself was easily found.
“Over a two-decade Thursday-night residency at New York City’s legendary 55 Bar, Wayne Krantz developed one of the most distinctive voices on the electric guitar.” (M. Ross)
In this broadcast we hear Krantz not only with his own trio’s from the last decades – and of course with long time colleague David Binney -, but also being a side-man and studio musician with Steps Ahead, Donald Fagen, Chris Potter and more.
