Congolese rumba by Mose ‘Fan Fan’.
In the late sixties, Mose ‘Fan Fan’ was lead guitar player and composer of Le TPOK Jazz, the orchestra of Franco, grand master of Congolese rumba. After leaving Franco, he triumphed in East Africa with his own band Somo Somo and later with Orchestre Makassy and Orchestre Matimila, in which Remmy Ongala also took part.
In the early 80s, his Somo Somo band was given new life when he met British producer Robin Scott. Mose Fan Fan made the change from Tanzania to Europe and settled in England.
From his current base of operations in London, this veteran has been taking it easy the past few years. This has not hampered his quality, though. On the contrary. His most recent CDs have all been pearls of their own, in which the golden age of classic rumba by Franco and Rochereau ring out prominently.
