Western religious music from different centuries.
The works of Pierre de Manchicourt (c. 1510-1564) definitely deserve a place in the canon of Renaissance music. We will hear a mass and three motets composed by him.
The vocal ensemble Beauty Farm broke a lance for De Manchicourt in 2024. The ensemble recorded four of his masses on a two-CD set, including the five-part ‘Missa De Domina’ as a world premiere.
We will also hear three motets by De Manchicourt in this hour, performed by the Huelgas Ensemble conducted by Paul Van Nevel.
