With as guest in the studio: Katherina Rijcken of de Ex, she brings along her favourite music.
Since 1984 Katherina Rijcken-Bornefeld has been the drummer of the Ex. The name of the band is partly determined by the small number of letters, which is easily and quickly sprayed on the wall by graffiti. The music is fresh and experimental, not always easy and always in progress. Noise, rock, jazz, improvisation and ethnic music flow together into one category: Ex music. Now the band plays concerts and festivals in the Netherlands and the rest of Western Europe. And also in many Eastern European countries such as Poland, Hungary, Romania, Russia, Lithuania, Turkey and in America, Canada, Lebanon, Brazil, Egypt and Ethiopia. In the course of time the Ex played together with a huge amount of musicians and other artists, such as cellist Tom Cora, cartoonist Kamagurka and Herr Seele, the Instant Composers Pool, Malian kora player Djibril Diabate, Danswerkplaats Amsterdam, theatre group Alex d’Electrique, Eritrean singer Tsehaytu Beraki, writer and former football player Jan Mulder and a large amount of musicians from all over the world, including the almonst 75 year old Ethiopian saxophonist Getatchew Mekuria. The Ex is formed in 1979, exists almost 35 years, performed 1699 times, of which 1119 times abroad and 580 times in the Netherlands, has released 139 singles, records, CDs and DVDs.
