Northern Lights: Scandinavian and Baltic music

In Northern Lights, every two weeks, we exclusively focus on Scandinavian and Baltic music for an hour. There are no boundaries to our search, we delve into both the old and new, the familiar and the lesser-known, gladly exploring the entire spectrum of classical music and cross-overs. In today’s episode we will exclusively focus on Finnish compositions, featuring substantial symphonic pieces, alongside playful folk tunes and soulful, jazzy trumpet sounds.

You will hear:

  • Olli Mustonen. (pictured above) Symphony no.2 ‘Johannes Angelos’ (2014). Turku Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Olli Mustonen.
  • Verneri Pohjola & Band. Of our children and Bebe.
  • Emilia Lajunen. Hoskari and Menuetto
