New CDs with Early Music. In this episode, two recently released CDs with music for Holy Week and Easter time: Lamentations by Joseph-Hector Fiocco by Ensemble Bonne Corde. And also music for Easter time by Christoph Graupner by Main-Barockorchester conducted by Martin Jopp.

 

The Portuguese Ensemble Bonne Corde recorded the complete Lamentationes Hebdomadae Sanctae by Joseph-Hector Fiocco for the label Ramée. He was a choir master at the Cathedral of Antwerp for some time and later held the same position at the Cathedral of St. Michael and St. Gudula in Brussels.

The second CD is dedicated to music for Easter time by Christoph Graupner. Liturgically, this period runs from Easter to Pentecost. Therefore, this recording by Franz Vitzthum and Georg Poplutz also includes duets and arias from cantatas for the intervening Sundays and Ascension Day.
