Soul jazz from the 50s, 60s and 70s: THE BOOGALOO OF LOU, part 3 of a 4-part series about alto saxophonist Lou Donaldson.
After being under contract with Argo for a number of years, Lou Donaldson returned to Blue Note in 1967 where he made a series of boogaloo and jazz-funk records. ‘Young lions’ like George Benson, Lonnie Smith, Charles Earland and, of course, drummer Idris Muhammad all played in his bands.
