About the Fabulous Fifties.
Palace of Nostalgia at 8 PM is all about the Fabulous Fifties. For many people, the 1950s represent a snugness and ‘cosy behind the curtains in the land of the pastor’. But it was also an abundant decade. After the so-called ‘crisis years’ and World War II, the elderly could enjoy prosperity that finally reached more and more homes, whilst the young people started to claim their place in society by demanding for change in many areas. Thanks to the invention of the transistor radio, they at least managed to accomplish a revolution in music. And all of this under the jinx of a nuclear war.
A Palace of Nostalgia with: Sarah Vaughan, Ken Nordine, The Weavers, Doris Day, Perry Como, Elvis Presley, Guy Mitchell, Frank Sinatra, Hetty Blok and others.
