A musical serial. Episode 24: Mukti
The year 1999 saw the release of the album ‘Remember Shakti’, a concert recording with two Hindustani classical pieces and three Western pieces. Guitarist John McLaughlin and Indian musicians Hariprasad Chaurasia (bansuri), Zakir Hussain (tabla) and T.H. Vikku Vinayakram (ghatam) sold out the Royal Albert Hall on three consecutive nights. In this episode we play the raag Mukti, the longest piece on the CD , in full, except for four minutes we had to cut to fit the hour. The second part of this performance is one long percussion solo.
