Slipped through the net

Innovative wayward thinkers.

The British folk singer Sam Lee collects old folk songs in a traditional way but in addition to that he shamelessly transforms them into new contemporary music. He takes it even one step further on his latest CD The Fade in Time, compared to his debut album of 2012. A few years ago, The Unthanks from Northumberland did the opposite, by singing songs of Robert Wyatt and Anthony Hegarty as if they were hundred-year-old folk songs. A lot of original (self-written) repertoire on their latest album Mount the Air, captured in exciting arrangements.
