Wishing Songs from the East.
In eastern Poland (just like in the Ukraine and Belarus) there is an age old tradition of singing wishing song during ‘old new year’s day’ (13 January). The Polish-Ukrainian group DagaDana collected a number of these shehedrivkas and gave them a contemporary musical twist. They did something similar earlier in response to the Ukrainian revolt on Maidan Square.
