John Hartford and his passion for steam
The big paddle steamers on the Mississippi were a life-long inspiration for singer and multi-instrumentalist John Hartford. He drew the shape of one himself on the cover of his album Headin’ Down Into The Mystery Below. Hartford even fantasised merrily about a steam-driven plane, like we hear on his album Aereo Plane.
