Take the Plunge with Jean Cras

tue 26 aug 2014 19:00 hrs

Jean Cras (1879-1932) was full of contradictions. He combined a career in the French navy – he wandered over the oceans for years and became schout-bij-nacht (rear admiral) – with the composing of a lot of atmospheric music, style wise in between Duparc, Debussy and Ravel. Apart from that he was also an inventor of nautical instruments.

All works by Jean Cras, unless stated otherwise.
1. two parts from String trio
2. Panis angelicus for soprano and organ
3. Henri Duparc: lied L’invitation au voyage
4. Lied. Douceur du soir
5. two parts from Poèmes intimes for piano
6. two parts from Elégies for tenor and orchestra
