In the summer of 2001 she celebrated her recital’s 25-year anniversary at the Plaça de Rei in Barcelona, the place where she returns each year to perform together with various musicians from every corner of the world. Together with composer Joan Valent and his Ars Ensemble she recorded the live album Raixa there, named after the garden in the village Bunyola, not far away from her birth town Palma de Mallorca. Sarmast (‘drunk’) expresses the lyrical drunkenness that arises when you listen to the beautiful lyrics of the great Iranian poets (like Hafez and others). These poets fascinated Maryam and inspired her to write songs.
