Episode 25 of our series about Benjamin Britten and Contemporaries. A “churchparable”, that’s what the British called his champer opera Curlew River, in which he incorporated elements of the Japanese Noh theatre.
As a contemporary someone who, like Britten, was inspired by music from other cultures, the American Henry Cowell.
