Jazz, blues and nostalgia. This time about Film & Jazz.
Jazz music and the silver screen have formed a great pair ever since the beginning of the sound-film in 1927 (’The Jazz Singer’). One hour filled with jazzy film music. With Miles Davis, Raymond Scott (‘the man who made cartoons swing’), Duke Ellington, excerpts from the renowned jazz documentary ‘Jammin’ the Blues’ (with Lester Young and the obscure Marie Bryant), music from ‘The Wild One’ (‘the father of the biker films’) with Marlon Brando, furthermore Doris Day, Kirk Douglas and Harry James in ‘Young Man With a Horn’, Robert Altman’s musical reconstruction of Kansas City in the 30s, Lee Morgan, Artie Shaw, and Art Blakey.
