Music by 20th-century composers.
On today’s edition of The Last Century, we focus on Ukrainian composer Valentyn Silvestrov. Born in Kiev in 1937, Silvestrov is regarded as one of Ukraine’s leading composers and, according to Arvo Pärt and Alfred Schnittke, one of the greatest composers of our time. We will hear five of his works, including the beautiful Serenade for string orchestra.
