The Last Century

wed 3 may 2023 19:00 hrs
Composer: Carlo Domeniconi

The guitar in the previous century XIV.

A monthly series featuring guitar music from the previous century, with each episode featuring a guitar concert. Today’s focus is on guitar music from the Balkans and Southeast Europe.

Including music by Dušan Bogdanović (1955) from Serbia and Miroslav Tadić (1959) from Bosnia and Herzegovina. Both composers combine classical music, Balkan folk music, and jazz. Bulgarian rhythms and melodies form the basis of many compositions by Atanas Ourkouzounov (1970). Italian composer Carlo Domeniconi (1947) seems like a strange addition, but he studied in Turkey for a few years and Turkish music is an important source of inspiration for his pieces.
