Over the course of the following hour we’ll listen to jitterbug, racoon, heebie jeebies, piccolino, twist, creep, and also Flat Foot Floogie – about a lady with loose morals with flat feet.
From the explosive dances from the ‘Roaring Twenties’ – like the charleston, which was called ‘the dance from hell’, or the exhilarating Black Bottom – to Francisco Lomuto’s tango that embodies nostalgia.
With the athletic Nicholas Brothers, music from films by Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers, the story behind the ‘Tennessee Waltz’, comedian Tom Lehrer with ‘The Masochism Tango’ and also Jeri Southern, Doris Day, Artie Shaw, Mr. Bojangles, Mavis Rivers, Frans Halsema, Pee Wee King, Ella Fitzgerald, Ernestine Anderson, Johnny & Jones.
