We conclude our journey to Australia with Brett Dean and Nigel Westlake. Dean has often compared his composing style to that of a painter, building layers of sound one at a time. Sometimes his music features cinematic effects, other times it carries a political message. Meanwhile, Nigel Westlake has primarily made his mark as a film composer. Dean’s Epitaphs, as the title suggests, are resonant memorials in sound.
