Rosy Wertheim (born in 1888) was one of the first Dutch female composers to complete a professional music education and gain international recognition. In addition to music, she was also strongly committed to social causes. She lived in Paris for seven years and for some time in Vienna and New York; her house was a meeting place for artists. Her compositions were performed nationally and internationally and she worked as a correspondent for various newspapers and magazines. She left behind a varied oeuvre of some eighty works.

Benedict Silberman, a Dutch composer and conductor (born 1901) and son of an Austrian violinist who worked in Helsinki and settled in Amsterdam. Benedict Silberman studied piano and composition at the Amsterdam Conservatory. He left for Berlin, where he played as a violinist and arranged light classical musicals, preferably Viennese operettas.
In 1936 he returned to the Netherlands and became a pianist in the AVRO radio orchestra. In 1938 he became the conductor of the VARA radio orchestra. In 1948 he was asked to found a radio orchestra specializing in light classical music; he led this from 1949 to 1967. In 1965 Benedict Silberman won the Golden Harp for his contributions to Dutch music.
