Folk magazine about the present and the past, from freak folk to minstrels. In this episode of Folk It!, we return to the days when Romania was still a dictatorship. The days, when only one Romanian record label existed: Electrecord. This label released many kinds of music: from Jazz to classical, and from pop to world music. Electrecord was founded in 1932, during the communist regime. The size of the repertoire and the multitude of genres can be compared to labels like Melodia in the Sovjet Union and Hongaroton in Hungary, other labels that covered an entire country. So tonight, popular Romanian music of Electrecord, with special attention to two ladies who frequently can be heard in this music: Gabi Lunca and Romica Puceanu.
