The history of 21st century opera: 1924.
The opera landscape is varied in 1924, and that is how we like it. We get traditionalism from Emmerich Kálmán and Franz Schreker, but also a Nordic theme from Feliks Nowowiejski and Leevi Madetoj.
There is a sincere Ukranian opera (although posthumously) composed by Mykola Lysenko. The audience’s taste is changing, and this has an impact on the production of operas.
